Patient Services (COVID-19)
In order to protect our patients during COVID-19 outbreak and in line with national guidance, Melling Surgery and Towerhill Surgery will be operating a CLOSED DOOR POLICY from Monday 27th April until further notice. This means that you will NOT be able to enter the building or speak to a member of our team face to face.
We kindly ask you to stay at home and, where possible, make contact with us via our online services (see below). If you do not have access to the internet then please call us on 0151 902 0010 between 8am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, and a member of our reception team will be happy to help with any query you have.
Our COVID-19 Operating Model
Despite us operating a closed door policy in both of our surgeries, we encourage all patients to make contact with us if you have a clinical need. Please do not put off what we can help you with today as your health and wellbeing matters to us!
In line with national guidance we are operating a total triage model which means that every patient contacting the practice is triaged before making an appointment. All patient requests will be managed remotely (via an online consultation and/or via telephone and/or via video consultation) and patients will only be seen face-to-face if absolutely clinically necessary.
See image below which highlights our total triage model:
To have an online consultation with your GP about a current condition, or to seek general advice please click the following link Take an Online Consultation with your GP
To request a sick note or to check up on test results or hospital letters please click the following link Submit an administrative request to your GP
To order REPEAT medications, i.e. the medications you take regularly, we are encouraging ALL patients to download and start using the NHS App. The process takes approximately 20 minutes to register and you DO NOT have to receive any special codes from the practice to get set up.
By using the NHS App you will be helping others by ensuring that our telephone lines are more accessible to those patients who are more vulnerable patients and/or for patients who do not have access to the internet.
- To download the NHS App click the following link: Download the NHS App. Please note, you will require a valid form of ID to register for the NHS App so please have this to hand.
- For a step-by-step guide on how to register with the NSH App please click the following link (please note, you will be directed to a YouTube video that has been developed by a GP not from our practice): Click here to watch the video for a step-by-step guide on registering with the NHS App
Once you submit your medication request via the NHS App it will upload directly into your medical record and your GP will be able to see it. If your medication is approved then the prescription will automatically be sent to your nominated pharmacy within 48 hours.
If you do not have a nominated pharmacy, please click on the following link and complete the online form to let us know who you want us to send your medication to on a regular basis: Click here to nominate a pharmacy of your choice
If you feel you require medication for an ACUTE condition, i.e. a ‘one-off’ prescription that may be prescribed for a short course of treatment, then we ask that you complete an online consultation for your GP to review. Click here to complete an online consultation and request an ACUTE medication
If you do not have internet access then please call us on 0151 902 0010 and a member of our team will ask you a series of questions and complete the online consultation on your behalf. Please note the following:
- This service may not be immediately available and you may be placed in a ‘call-back’ queue
- The member of our reception team may have to ask you sensitive/personal questions about your health; your information will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
Patients who DO NOT have Internet Access
If you do not have internet access and are unable to order your medications online then please call us on 0151 902 0010 and we will be happy to help.
Please DO NOT place prescription requests under the front door of Melling Surgery as the practice will NOT be regularly checked. Any requests placed under the door will be discarded and not processed.
